As we start the 2023/24 season I wanted to provide the Devon Football Family with a staffing update from Coach Road.

As the football season begins to kick off this weekend, we will see the Extra Preliminary Round of this season’s Emirates FA Cup, which many of of our local with be competing in, including a debut for Okehampton Argyle participating in their first ever FA Cup fixture. Good luck to all our teams competing and everyone kicking off their season.

As many of you will be aware we have seen a number of changes recently following the retirement of Paul Morrison and myself stepping up to CEO of the County FA. As part of these changes Matthew Hodgson has now taken over the Football Development Manager’s position on a full-time basis following a successful secondment period and will continue to lead on the female game alongside his new role. These changes have given us an opportunity to reorganise our staffing structure and create four new positions within Devon County FA, these positions will be advertised over August.  We have also taken this as an opportunity to make some changes to current roles within the organisation and these will be officially announced shortly.

However with the departures of Paul and Jason Haywood who left the County FA in June means our current workforce is 20% below our desired levels while we recruit the four new members of the team. With this in mind, in the next three to four months there may be times where there is a delay from us responding to a query or certain programmes of work may be paused.  I am asking for your understanding and co-operation and I can assure you we will work hard to deliver a high quality service across the Devon Football Family during this time.
