Devon FA Receive Nationally Recognised Equality Award

Devon County FA has gained the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard for Sport.

Devon County FA is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard Framework for Sport.

The National Standard for Equality is a nationally recognised framework that assists CFAs with embedding equality at the highest level of their organisation, and communicating and sharing that commitment with its staff and partners.

It also provides a framework to review how a CFA is organised around equality in relation to its service delivery, workforce, policies, procedures and legal compliance against the backdrop of The FA's National Game Strategy.

Chris French, Devon County FA’s Chief Executive commented: “To be awarded the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard in Sport is another step towards achieving the strategic priorities we set as a business in 2022. The Standard will enable us to continue to develop the game for all and address barriers to participation and involvement for everyone in Devon. Thank you to Ashley Harris who has driven this piece of work, alongside our Inclusion Advisory Group and all the Devon Football Family that have played their part.”

Ashley Harris who leads on inclusion at Devon County FA further commented: "I'm delighted that we have been able to achieve the next level of the Equality Standard Framework for Sport. Thank you to all the clubs, leagues, players, referees and coaches that took part in the Equality survey during summer 2022 that supported the review and application process. This award allows us to demonstrate our commitment to providing football for anyone who wishes to participate, working towards our vision of “Enhancing lives through Football in Devon”
