DBS Expiry Process

Please read the below information regarding the DBS expiry process.

The intentions of most people who work with children in football are good. However, as part of The Devon FA’s commitment to provide safe and enjoyable environments, sound recruitment and selection procedures are essential.

As part of our Three-Year strategy and our priority to ensure Devon is safe, inclusive and diverse, The Devon FA requires those working in eligible roles* with children and young people U18 to pass a DBS Check, *(Managers, Coaches, First Aider, Referee Coach/Mentor, some Committee Members & those working with U18’s in Open Age Football). This is in line with legislation and government guidance and is standard practice.

Many DBSs expire during the season and to make sure all clubs remain compliant; we are reminding clubs of our compulsory DBS Expiry Process.  This has been created to help clubs to regularly check on their volunteers DBSs and to make sure if DBSs are due to expire action is taken.  If action is not taken when DBSs expire, then The Devon FA will make suspensions, as outlined in the process.

The FA have made DBS Videos if you need any help with applications, they can be found here.
