RIP - Gordon Bennett

Rest in peace, Gordon. Keep smiling.

We are saddened to hear about the passing of our former Council Member, Gordon Bennett, who passed away last week.

Gordon served as a volunteer for the County FA for many years, as a representative of Plymouth Argyle and was very proud and honoured to be one of our Council Members. He always made time for people and tried to help where he could to make sure we provided football for everyone in Devon.

His love for football was clear to see, working as a Youth Development Officer for Bristol Rovers to help develop some of the best talent in the South-West of England.

Gordon then moved on to roles such as club secretary and chief executive at Rovers, before working at Aberdeen, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City, where he was inducted into the Canaries' Hall of Fame in 2003. He then moved on to work for Plymouth Argyle under Ian Holloway in the 2000's.

Devon FA Chief Executive Officer, Paul Morrison had this to say: "We have lost a true gentleman of the game. Gordon was so passionate about the beautiful game, and in particular, local football. As he would always say, keep smiling".
