Coach Roads 3G in Full Swing

Devon FA are delighted to announce that work has now begun on our new artificial 3G pitch and 70 space car park.

Devon FA are delighted to announce that work has now begun on our new artificial 3G pitch and an additional 70 space car park.

The new pitch will improve the existing sporting and recreation facilities at Devon FA, which will increase usage for the benefit of football clubs, partner organisations and community groups in the surrounding area, including local junior and youth football clubs and will offer a variety of pitches with multiple markings and training areas within the same enclosed playing area.

The project which was identified a strategic priority in the Teignbridge Playing Pitch Strategy the is set to cost around £950,000, with a funding grant from the FA and Football Foundation contributing over £600,000 towards the re-generation and £100,000 from Teignbridge Local Authority. The FA have plans to invest £230million over the next five years, in 150 new football hubs in 30 cities, which will increase the total number of accessible full-size 3G pitches in England. They also aim for 50% of all mini-soccer and youth football matches to be played on 3G pitches by 2020.

The new 3G pitch at Coach Road will contribute to the FA’s National Game Strategy for participation and development, which aims to create better training facilities, boost participation and develop better players.

Works on the pitch and car park are expected to take 12-14 weeks to complete. We hope that the weather is kind and will allow us to host all 19 of our 2020 County Cup Finals on our brand new surface.

Paul MorrisonDevon FA’s Chief Executive spoke after the plans were approved by saying: “This is a pivotal day for the future of football in the local area. The installation of a 3G pitch is crucial to the Devon FA and the Teignbridge area. We have the responsibility to develop the game from youngest to oldest, with around 40,000 players and 9,000 volunteers, we want to invest into our football clubs and increase participation. We have built a reputation with the FA as one of the leading County FA’s in England to develop the game.”

As well as thanking the FA, Football Foundation and Teignbridge District Council, we would also like to thank Robinson Low Francis and SIS Pitches who are carrying out the works at Coach Road over the coming weeks.

Please be aware, when visiting Coach Road in the next 12-14 weeks that there will be disruptions around the premises, and diversions when entering the building. We hope to keep you updated on the works, so please stay tuned to our website and social media pages to see the progress!

Due to the installation of the 3G, the Devon FA will be wanting to clear out some of the groundskeeping equipment. This ranges from tractors, mowers, goalposts and line markers. Equipment such as this will be available for club’s to purchase. If you are interested, please email – info@devonfa.com
