MAP Juniors 6 - 1 Bideford Blues JFC - Devon U16 Boys Cup Final 2018

Marine Academy Plymouth Juniors 6 - 1 Bideford Blues & Appledore Juniors

The two teams came here with very good reputations known for getting the ball down and playing it but that could’ve been scuppered due to the atrocious weather.

pre match

The match began and the problems were to be seen immediately as the movement of the ball was being severally hampered by the puddles of standing water, the victors will be the team the master the conditions the best.

The first real chance fell to the Bideford Blues, breaking down the centre with Aaron Hastie only for the MAP keeper Tyler Coombes to quickly come off his line and smother the ball at his feet.

MAP’s first chance came when they won a free kick about twenty yards out taken by Henry Bunning who crossed the ball dee pinto the area, the ball fell to Samuel Kingston whose shot went wide in the twelfth minute.

The first goal of the match was scored by Bideford Blues, as Jack Hoslin was fed the ball and once again Coombes was quick to come off his line but Hoslin controlled the ball and calmly hit the ball under Coombes to score – 1-0 to Bideford Blues.

tackle

The goal came against the run of play and looked to have given them a big boost and Hastie had another chance when he shot from just inside the area but the MAP defence stood firm and cleared the ball.

MAP countered and attacked the Bideford Blues defence, James Hamson who looked an outstanding player, cracked a shot at the goal only for Blues keeper, Matthew Parkhouse, to tip it over the bar.

MAP won the ball back from the restart and put in a fine series of passes between the midfield and attack a final pass by Mackenzie Hobbs to Homson saw him look up and pick his spot and fire home drawing the scores level.

MAP were looking the dominant team and not long later, Justin Newton, strongly heads home after another good move down the wing to make it 2-1 to Marine Academy Plymouth Juniors.

With half time fast approaching the Blues needed to stand firm and not concede another goal and get to the changing room only the one goal down.

With rain still heavily falling the second half began and it is the Blues who have the first chance when Casper Griffin attempts to lob Coombes but the ball was safely held by the keeper.

MAP do score again when Dylan Peters feeds Kingston again who tucks the ball confidently into the Blues net to grab his second of the match making it 3-1.

The blues are now relying on long range shooting but the cant hit the target from a clearance by Coombes the ball falls to Ali Carter who dribbles into the box looks up a crisply shoots home with MAPS fourth.

strike

Into the last minute and the relentless MAP attack again and Hobbs strongly attacks the Blues defence and fires home making it 5-1.

The fourth official shows that the will be five minutes of added time.

Two minutes into the added time a one-two between Bailey Yeo and substitute Dylan Skyrme sees Yeo feed the ball to Hamson who scores again.

The referee Harry Andrews blows for full time with MAP winning the Wotton Printers Devon U16 Boys County Cup by six goals to one a score line that really doesn’t paint the how close the match really was.
