U14 Girls’ Devon Schools FA 2018-19

For the first time, Devon have entered a girls u14 team into the South West Counties Schools FA Championships. The format of the competition saw Devon placed in a group alongside Hampshire, Berkshire and Dorset with the final place in the group determining which opponents from the other group would be faced in the next round.

The first game of the season was a home fixture again Berkshire Schools FA and what a cracker of a match is was with Devon scoring a last minute winner to take the victory 3-2. A close encounter saw some good football from both sides and it was a deserved win for Devon who did have the better of the game and created more opportunities. Unfortunately for Berkshire, a missed penalty with the last kick of the game denied them a draw.

Following on shortly after the Berkshire game was another home fixture against what turned out to be a very good Dorset team, who proved too strong for Devon in a 6-0 win. There were positives to take for the young Devon team who battled hard throughout the game and gave a good account of themselves.

The one remaining group game will be a trip to Hampshire.
