Safeguarding Preparation for Affiliation 2023-2024 Season

Please see below, information to prepare clubs for affiliation next season.

The FA are bringing in NEW Safeguarding affiliation rules for the 2023-2024 season, for all County affiliated clubs.

The new changes are included in the attached document, including the requirement for each Team to have an official who has completed the concussion course.  This course is free and online and takes about 20 minutes, please find the link for it here.

AFFILIATION PREPARATION DOCUMENT

The main Safeguarding changes are within the Adult game, including Open Age, Adult Disability, Veterans and Walking Football.  These Clubs will need an Adult Welfare Officer named on the Whole Game System for affiliation.

Adult Disability Welfare Officers will need to have completed the Safeguarding for Adults course, this is free and online, and can be accessed here.

We are strongly advising Open Aged Welfare Officers to get their DBS done for the start of the season, this can be done through Clubs or Devon FA.

Youth football remains very much the same for Safeguarding, but all officials must have the Safeguarding for Children qualification, the course can be accessed here.

The recertification course will be accessed here.

If clubs do not have these officials or qualifications in place, then they will not be able to affiliate for the 2023-2024 season.
