Exmouth Town do the double with Graddon Vending Premier Cup win

Exmouth Town won the Graddon Vending Devon Premier Cup for the third time having last won the trophy 33 years ago thanks to a late goal by substitute Ace High.

After only 3 minutes Exmouth created the first chance when Dan Jones set up Jamie Moore, but his hurried shot went over the crossbar. Eight minutes later the Exmouth goalkeeper Liam Jones had to jump high to save a shot at the second attempt from Buckland's Robbie Mills.

Exmouth then had the better of the first half. A 35 yard right sided free kick by Adam Fowler was plucked out of the air by the Buckland goalkeeper Ken Griffiths, and five minutes later another free kick this time from the left by Fowler, was cleared with a bullet of a header by Ryan Harrison-White.

In the 29th minute a cross come shot by Fowler from out on the right landed on the top of the Buckland crossbar and went over. A minute later the Buckland central defender Harrison-White made a decisive clearance, as anyone of three Exmouth players were about to pounce.

On 37 minutes a fierce low drive by Exmouth's Andrew Thompson went fractionally wide of a post, and Dan Boere after dribbling through the Buckland defence curled a shot around an upright.

Buckland then had chances either side of the halftime break. First the Exmouth defender Ben Woolley had to clear a dangerous bouncing ball from his own goal area, secondly Buckland's Tom Armstrong had a shot from the edge of the penalty area go close, and thirdly Exmouth's Phil Everett had to jump high to head clear a corner, from above the towering Buckland defender HarrisonĀ White.

In the 53 minute Exmouth took the lead with a header by Boere that skimmed off the slippery surface Into the Buckland net beating keeper Griffiths, but Buckland came back at Exmouth to equalise eight minutes later with a cracking free kick by Armstrong, that found the top corner of the net giving the Exmouth keeper Jones no chance to save.

Buckland continued on the attack and a goal-bound daisy cutter by Dan Griffiths was blocked by an Exmouth defender. Exmouth then had a good spell, Phil Everett just failed to connect with his outstretched foot to a through ball. The Buckland keeper Griffiths brilliantly saved a pile-driver of a shot from Boere, but then came the late winner in the 85th minute by High, who headed a bouncing ball over the head of keeper Griffiths Into the empty net.

In time added on a close range shot from Buckland's Harrison-White was saved by the Exmouth keeper Jones, but the triumphant Exmouth side held on to lift the cup.
