Devon County FA's Coach Road Headquarters hosted the first Charter Standard In-service Event of the 2010-2011 Season. The event which took place on Thursday 19th August 2010, was titled 'An Introduction to Goalkeeping'.
The workshop which was delivered by Exeter City FC's, former Welsh International Goalkeeper Andy Marriott, and spanned over a 2 hour period, was designed to supply those in attendance with basic knowledge and basic drills on the specialist position.
This is the first goalkeeping in-service event that has been offered by the Devon County FA, it came about following research carried out in our Charter Standard Clubs and Charter Standard Leagues.
The event which was attended by 24 people received excellent feedback from both participants and deliverer.
‘Fantastic workshop. Perfect Demonstration of how to coach a Goalkeeping Session – didn’t realise you could learn so much in 2 hours!’
‘Very informative, and well presented, gained a lot of knowledge to put into practice’
‘Very interesting, learning a good deal about the specific position. This can be taken back to my club and passed on through my coaching’
It is hoped that a specific Goalkeeping In-service programme will be announced over the coming weeks, due to the success of this event.
The Devon County FA would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants for their contribution on the evening.
A big thanks to Andy for his commitment in supporting the delivery of the Devon County FA’s Charter Standard In-service programme especially due to the professionalism in which it was delivered.
