Oxfordshire had the edge during the first half of this match at Cowley, they were quicker on the ball stringing some neat passing movements together and deserved the interval lead. Devon on the other hand fought back after the break and were unlucky not to get the equaliser.
After 5 minutes it took a decisive challenge by Devon's Dan Jewell (Ottery St Mary) to deny Oxfordshires Luke Carnell (Brackley Town) from scoring and three minutes later the Devon keeper Joe Moore (Elmore) had to dive at the feet of Oxfordshires lively forward Nathan Skelton (Oxford City)
On 10 minutes Devon's Jewell sent Tiverton Town's Sam Box away on the flank but the striker threatening cross was well cleared by Oxford defender Brian Kerry (Oxford City).
Oxfordshire then forced 3 corners that were dangerously floated intot he box by Steve Bonner (Oxford United Academy), all of which caused problems to the Devon rearguard and it was from the 3rd corner that Oxfordshire took the lead when Skelton fired home from 8 yards.
Devon's Michael Broome (Dawlish Town) making his debut was then put clean through but the defender shot over.
After 38 minutes Oxfordshire doubled their score when Skelton hit the roof of the net with a rocket of a shot from 20 yards.
In the 2nd period Devon's manager Pete Buckingham moved Jewell into midfield and his presence immediately caused problems. In the 60th minute from one of his bursts through the heart of the Oxfordshire defence he splayed the ball wide to the right of Elmores Jordan Taylor to come running in and shoot past the Oxfordshire keeper Tom Heslop (Henley Town).
On 65 minutes Oxfordshire were on the attack and a cross from the right somehow evaded a host of Oxfordshire player and the ball rolled out of play.
Devon were again on the attack in the but a long ball out of the Oxfordshire defence sent Jordan Ayris (Ardley United) clear to beat the Devon keeper with the Devon reargurad hoping for an offside decision.
In time added on Devon scored their 2nd following a corner by Taylor which ran through the Oxfordshire goal area leaving Jewell with a tap in.
Devon tried to force an equaliser but Oxforshire held on for the victory.
