THE TOURNAMENT EXECUTIVE is delighted to announce that the inaugural ERREA SOUTH WEST CHALLENGE CUP competition will be staged in North Devon, between the dates of 23rd - 27th July inclusive.
The two selected venues for the Competition are: BIDEFORD AFC who play at the Sports Ground, Kingsley Road, Bideford and APPLEDORE FC who play at Churchill Way, Appledore. Both venues have passed pre-tournament inspection visits. All weather training facilities have additionally been arranged.
The Competition will be conducted on a knock-out basis and features Clubs drawn from the professional & semi -professional Leagues. Visiting Clubs are being hosted to the region by the organisers and the BRENDS HOTEL GROUP, and will be located at hotels offering some of the best recreational and fitness facilities available in the region. A comprehensive range of indoor and outdoor amenities is at the disposal of visiting clubs, as well as numerous sporting/leisure activities of the region.
The Organisers are confident that such an organised and competitive event will ensure the very best pre-season conditioning for teams that have not met in competition recently; significantly many of the invited Clubs are currently engaged in promotion or Cup competitions, within their respective leagues.
Matches will be scheduled for each of the locations with key matches including the final to be staged on Sunday 27th July at the Sports Ground, Bideford. Full details of the teams, fixture dates and Match Sponsors will be widely available between now and the Tournament dates. A golfing day will be hosted by THE BREND HOTELS GROUP. The event winner will be awarded the newly donated, perpetual ERREA trophy and medallions will be awarded to all finalists.
The organisers wish to thank Devon FA for their guidance and support with the services of Match Officials. A tournament Programme will feature all the participating Teams together with details of fixture dates, times and locations.
Finally, the Organisers point to the active participation of the local Community who will provide the essential support of Safety Stewards, Ball Boys and Girls, PA Staff and Groundsmen, without whose help and participation the event could not be staged.
Projected economic benefits to local business and commerce range from £30 - £50,000.
