With a slight change to last year’s format, each School Sports Partnership (SSP) ran central venue tournaments earlier in the season with the winners of each of the seven SSP’s being invited to the finals day. This meant that a total of 21 teams were invited to compete, with seven teams in each of the each groups (Under 12, 14, & 16).
All the schools that reached the finals day deserve huge congratulations on their achievements after coming through some tough fixtures to make it to the finals day. The following teams competed in each age group:

Unfortunately St Luke’s U16’s (Exeter) and Great Torrington U14’s (North Devon) were unable to make it to the finals day, but congratulations must go to them for winning their SSP tournament.
Following on from the success of last year’s tournament, the playing format for this season remained much the same with a round-robin league played in each age group, giving each school the chance to play against all the other finalists in their respective age group. Each game had 5 points awarded for a win, 3 points awarded for a score draw, 1 point for a no score draw and 0 points for a loss.
To cater for the number of schools and spectators, the day was split into a morning and afternoon session. The morning session started well, with all fixtures kicking off on time and there was some fantastic football played across all age groups despite the downpour of rain for about an hour of the morning’s fixtures, which made playing conditions very difficult. After the lunch break, the weather improved and the remaining fixtures were played with the league tables taking shape. There were some close games, particularly in the Under 16 competition where just 3 points separated the top three teams.
Below is a list of the first, second and third placed teams from each age group.
