The East Devon Schools Sports Partnership has been successful in gaining funding from the Football Foundation to build sustainable school club links and increase participation of girls football over the next 3 years.
The East Devon Schools Sports Partnership in conjunction with Axminster Town FC , Exmouth Amateurs FC, Axe Valley Community College, Exmouth College and Devon Football Association recently invited girls from their neighbouring primary schools to attend central venue fixture days.
The first event was at Exmouth Community College with some 30 girls attending. This was run successfully by Martin Miller from Exmouth College, Lee Rider from Devon FA and ably assisted by students from the College who had all completed the Mini Soccer Match Day Skills course run by Devon FA.
The second of these events was held at Axminster Town FC where some 35 girls were invited to train and play football. In charge were Nick Tregale from Axminster Town FC, Tracey Moran from Axminster College and Lee Rider from Devon FA, again ably assisted by students from Axminster College who had all completed the Mini Soccer Match Day skills course.
