In Devon we have a number of Facility based Football Development Officers.
These positions are made possible by The Football Foundation providing a tiered funding structure in order to part fund a Football Development Officer post at each facility following successful bids for new 3G ATPs. The roles of these officers vary but essentially they are in place to maximise the usage of the facility and deliver a development plan that was written for the facility. The officers will support local clubs and schools and the whole community as well as support the Devon FA deliver its targets as set out in the FA's National Game Strategy.

Refugee Week Football Tournament
To launch this year’s Refugee Week, Plymstock School held a football tournament which also coincided with the start of the World Cup. Thirteen teams were entered from across the city including Plymouth Hope, P.i.e.t.y, All Nations, The Fire Service, and Theatre Royal. The teams were made up from many different nationalities, from around the world.
The tournament was organised by P.C.Graeme Kirkup, from the Police Diversity team and Christopher French, Plymstock School Football Development Officer. Every team that entered took the name of a participating country from this year’s World Cup. The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress kindly agreed to attend and open the event, along with Group leader Nick Jones from the Fire Service.
The tournament proved to be competitive, but with a great atmosphere. The players enjoyed the opportunity to play against a variety of teams they would rarely be able to play against. The eventual winners of the tournament were a team made up of 6th Form students from Plymstock School.
Chris French said, “The tournament was an excellent way to start this year’s Refugee Week, it was great to see players from all aspects of life in Plymouth playing with such sportsmanship and respect for each other”. Please see pics from the tournament under 'Related Documents'.
