Volunteering Opportunities

Disability Football is growing all the time in Devon, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved at a club near you.  Please see below for the latest volunteering opportunities, or contact Dai Carpenter, Disability Football Development Officer, tel: 01626 323560, or email david.carpenter@devonfa.com

Exeter City Ability Counts FC

Exeter City run 7 mens football teams in the Ability Counts Leagues, and also support coaching sessions for partially sighted and blind players, deaf players (with signing coaches), women and junior players with a disability.  To support all this activity the club urgently need more volunteers, to help out with anything from regular coaching sessions to matches, to driving the team minibus!  Full training including support for qualifications can be provided to interested volunteers.

Homeless & Mental Health Football Cup

Devon County FA support Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) Football Competitions for homeless players and players with mental health issues.  These take place on the first Thursday of every month in Exeter.  Volunteers are needed to help run tournaments and referee games at these events, which aim to provide a step for each player towards returning to regular football.

Ability Counts Football League

The Devon Ability Counts Football League for disabled players is looking for volunteers to support the league website on FA Full-Time.  This includes updating fixtures and tables, and match reports or news stories from recent fixtures.  Full training can be provided on the use of the FA Full-Time Website.

Soccer Sight - Football Commentary

Coca-Cola football league clubs in Devon now offer (when possible) an adaptive commentary service for blind and partially sighted fans attending games.  This is part of the RNIB Soccer Sight project, and descriptive commentary is broadcast to fans at the ground whom are given headsets.  Volunteers are required to provide this adaptive commentary service.
