The Level 3 coaching course is for coaches over the age of 18 who hold the Level 2 certificate and who work with a team over an extensive period of time aiming to make a significant contribution to their performance.
The course involves a contact time of some 90 hours of guided learning providing practical demonstrations of possession, movement to create space, counter-attacking play, play in the attacking third, regaining possession, defending in the thirds of the field and goalkeeping.
Theory includes the learning and coaching process, match and player analysis, team organisation, strategies and tactics, psychological factors, football fitness, football food, injury identification, aspects of first aid, drug awareness and education, preparing, planning, and evaluating coaching sessions in conjunction with competitive match programmes and attitudes and ethics.
