On Wednesday 2nd September 2009, the Devon County FA held its first ever Charter Standard Conference. The idea was to invite clubs to the County Office and give them an opportunity to meet some of the Devon FA staff and the newly formed Charter Standard Working Party.
Clubs were updated on the Charter Standard Programme and had the opportunity to attend a number of workshops that were led by members of the Devon FA Football Development Team.
The workshops on offer were:
Workshop 1: RESPECT and Welfare - Dave Keast (Welfare Officer) and Adam Hopkins (Referee Development Officer)
Workshop 2: Funding – Hannah Buckley (County Development Manager)
Workshop 3: Coach Education and In Service Training Events – Lee Rider (Senior Football Development Officer) and Annie Watts (Football Development Administrator)
Workshop 4: Girls’ and Women’s / Disability / Young Leadership – Mark Young (Girls’ and Women’s Football Development Officer), Dai Carpenter (Disability Football Development Officer) and Sarah Hill (DCFA Young Leader)
Around 70 people attended representing 30 - 35 clubs and all said what an interesting and worthwhile evening it was. Axminster Town were the lucky winners of the £500 Umbro vouchers in a special prize draw.
The Devon County FA would like to thank all those who attended and made the event such a success and look forward to working with all Charter Standard Clubs and clubs looking to aspire to attain the award in the near future.
